Wee Saints Academy Preschool Program, ages three and four
Children learn through play. Thematic units of study provide enriched programs for exploration in each subject area. Our daily schedule offers a balance of active and quiet play time, group and individual activities. All activities foster free choice and promote creativity.
Pre-K 3: Our three-year-old program emphasizes the spiritual, social, and emotional development of the child. Teachers create lessons that balance kinesthetic and active learning with visual learning. The goals for this program are to promote socialization, and the development of fine and gross motor skills. Children are introduced to the concept of God, worship, devotion, and prayer.
Pre-K 4: Our four-year-old program continues to develop the child’s spiritual, social and emotional growth through cooperative learning and exploration. Using a combination of teacher-led and student-centered activities, students develop the skills necessary for kindergarten. Students are also given the tools to develop self-help and problem-solving skills that foster individualization and independence. Students begin to develop a relationship with God, Our Lady, and the saints.
Tuition: $7,555 full day, $4,230 half day
Hours: 8:00am to 2:55pm, 8:00am to 12:30pm

Sacred Heart Academy Elementary School (K-5)
Often a child’s first exposure to a structured learning environment, elementary school is a critically important element to building lifelong Catholic learners. When children are excited about and successful in their learning efforts during these pivotal years, they are more likely to approach education with confidence and enthusiasm throughout their life. Our students are challenged to reach their God-given potential and to strive for excellence through the integration of faith and learning. By integrating our Faith throughout the curriculum and modelling our own faith, students learn the need for a personal relationship with God and are encouraged in their spiritual and moral development in the Catholic tradition, participate in religion class daily, sacramental preparation, and in weekly Mass.
Tuition: $6,294 for registered, participating parishioners, $7,452 for Catholics from other parishes, $8,610 for non-Catholics (discounts for additional children from the same family are available)
Hours: 8:00am to 2:55pm, 8:00am to 12:30pm
Extended day: 6:45am to 7:45am, 2:55pm to 6:00pm
Program length: 10 months

Sacred Heart Academy Middle School (6-8)
The bridge between elementary school and high school, our middle school program provides a transition through this crucial period of physical, emotional and intellectual development between childhood and early adolescence. Curriculum and programs meet the needs, interests, and abilities of students who seek a challenging learning environment. The goal is to prepare students for the rigors of high school and the organizational, academic, and spiritual challenges they will face. Behavioral standards are high to allow teachers and students to focus on curricula that goes beyond learning facts and being introduced to information. Students are taught to problem-solve, inquire, research, and discover, as well as develop strong oral and written communication skills. Underpinning all of our programs is the challenge to grow in a rich and individual relationship with God through the Catholic Church. This is excellent preparation for the personal challenges of high school and higher learning.

The enrollment process

Application – SHA Enrollment Application 2020

An application is required for consideration for enrollment in Sacred Heart Academy. The student’s birth certificate, baptismal certificate, and $75 non-refundable fee must accompany the application. If a student has an Individual Education Plan (IEP) or Individual Service Plan (ISP) from a prior school or educational institute, please include that plan with your application. Submit applications by mail: Enrollment Department, Sacred Heart Academy, 110 Keating Drive, Winchester, VA 22601, by email: lanthonyprice@sacredhearva.org, or by dropping off completed application packets in the black drop box outside of our front doors. All new families are encouraged to tour the school in person and meet with enrollment staff prior to a student’s acceptance.

Approval

After review by the enrollment department and the principal, an approved student is sent an enrollment packet and referred for assessment. All new students, and all students entering kindergarten, are assessed to ensure that Sacred Heart Academy will be a good fit for their educational needs.

Assessment

Our reading specialist and kindergarten teachers will meet with each new student for a period of approximately two hours to administer tests. The tests are designed to ascertain present levels of performance. Results are discussed with the family, principal, and proposed classroom teacher so all can work together to find the best fit for each student. All new students must be assessed before their acceptance is confirmed.

Enrollment

Students new to the Academy will have 30 days to complete an enrollment packet – sent out upon acceptance. The completed enrollment packet and a non-refundable enrollment fee of $300, is required before a spot in the appropriate classroom is guaranteed. Enrollment packets and fees can be submitted by mail: Enrollment Department, Sacred Heart Academy, 110 Keating Drive, Winchester, VA 22601, by email: lanthonyprice@sacredhearva.org, or by dropping off completed application packets in the black drop box outside of our front doors.
