Dear Parents,
I am so excited about teaching your precious children this year. This will be a year of social, academic, emotional, and physical growth for your child. Working together will provide a memorable experience for everyone involved. Please come to me if you ever have any questions or concerns.
I want to learn all about your children, but first I am going to tell you a few things about me. Mike and I have been married for 13 years and we have two children at Sacred Heart. Matthew will be in fifth grade and Leah will be in second grade. I can’t leave out our precious fur baby, Roscoe. He is a beagle/boxer mix and we rescued him three years ago. He has been the perfect addition to our family.
A little background on myself: I received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Child Development and Family Studies, from Auburn University, in Alabama in 2001. I then went on to receive my Master’s in Elementary Education, at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama in 2003. I taught first grade in Alabama and California before we were stationed overseas in Japan due to my husband’s military orders. Motherhood captured my heart and soul, so when we had our son in Japan I chose to stay at home and raise him. This was a true blessing especially since Mike was an F-18 Navy pilot, and deployed off and on with the aircraft carrier. I taught Japanese children and adults private English lessons while living there for three years. This was extremely rewarding and hysterical at times! We continued to move with the military every few years and staying at home with my children was wonderful! I took over ten years off to be a stay at home Mommy! Three years ago Mike retired after serving 20 years and we moved from St. Louis to Winchester since he is now a pilot for United Airline. I always wanted to teach again once Leah was in school full time so my dreams came true sooner than I had hoped. When she was in preschool at Sacred Heart, I began teaching midyear for preschool and this will be my third year in first grade. My family has fallen in love with Sacred Heart and it is a privilege to work with such an amazing group of teachers. I am looking forward to a terrific year with your “Firsties!”
Blessings,
